About Redwood Trails Horse Rides

2010 marks our 20th anniversary in business. I started doing trail rides with LANES pack station (owned by DOUG LANE). I began riding in the Redwood National Park when the trails were first built in 1981. I then went to work for Redwood Trails campground doing trail rides in 1982, where I worked until 1987 when they closed their rides down. I bought their horses and started my own rides in 1990 and we have been in business ever since.

My helper Wayne has been helping with rides about 10 years. Lynne also helps with the rides and has been riding with us for about 2 years.

We have lots of experience with trail riding. We take our time on the rides allowing our guests plenty of time to take pictures, enjoy the scenery and take in the Majestic and Enchanting redwood forest. We enjoy these rides as much as our guests. Come ride with us and have fun. Our horses are very well behaved and they will take good care of you.

When I was a child I learned trick riding. I learned to do the hippodrome stand (This means that you have a special saddle that makes it possible to stand up on your horse when it runs). I also learned to do the one foot stand (this is done on one foot at a run on the saddle). I also did side and tail vaults. These are also done at a run. I have competed in barrel racing and cattle penning and other gymkhana events. I have been riding since I was about 3 years old. My first horse was a cow! Then Dad got me a pony so I wouldn't ride his cows. You are welcome to ask any questions that you may have.
